I have a portable 40GB hard drive (Toshiba) installed HP Pavilion ZV5000. I can use to connect via an external USB-IDE cable for portability. Since few days I am facing a problem. The hard disk is displayed in the Administrator of connected devices and the system BIOS even Toshiba 40GB HD is connected to the system, but when I open my computer does not display hard drive partitions in this country. It also shows no partitions on the hard drive in the command prompt. Is there a solution to retrieve data on the hard drive and make it usable again? Please advise a solution.
Right-click My Computer, select Manage, select Disk Management from those that are displayed throughout the hard drive connected to your PC. Select you have a problem with and check if there are already partitions made, and if not, you can do on the disk partition and format. If your disk is OK, then you should be able to detect it. Hope this helps.
