Can I boot from my USB external drive?
My desktop at home recently died, but my hard drive is still good. It has XP, Office Suite, etc and 160 gigs of space, not to mention tons of programs and applications that we use on a daily basis.
I purchased an external hard drive case and connected it to a Dell laptop (running XP Pro) via USB and have access to the programs that are saved.
I currently don’t have office suite installed on the laptop (I recently completed a clean reinstall of Windows) and can’t find the CD for the programs, anyway.
Can I boot my laptop from the external drive via USB and just have my old desktop and programs and Outlook, etc? Is this possible? Is it advisable?
TIA
