Unable to format a SATA drive?
I have a SATA external enclosure hard drive connected to my laptop with Vista. The hard disk is detected but when accessing the form of questions. I tried to format by right clicking and select the format option and the Disk Management. I get a message "Windows could not complete the format." please help. Thank you I have two 160 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 hard disks and a box that connects via a standard USB cable (Type A and B at one end to the other end). I tried both hard drives at home for Vista and Windows XP Professional. The lid works well and I am able to access files with any other disk drive other than these two new drives.
Something wrong with your hard drive. It may be the hard drive is damaged (the tree is small) cable or the connector on your CPU for the external hard drive may be bad. Try to get a better cable connector (I think yours is a USB cable) If the problem persists, try connecting the hard drive on another computer. If the same problem, you can replace the hard drive (or claim)
