I have a WD 1TB external hard drive partition how to divide the two?

I tried to load the CD in Windows 7 for the partition slpit, but not let me do something for her. I have two computers at my disposal. Win7 each with XP. I have two partitions seporate like me have two uses different from two types of file format for this unit. can not find a way to do that. can anyone help? THX.

There are two ways to do so. One is the purchase or download or purchase a partitioning program. The second method is to use IT management Windows: Go to Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools Computer Management>> Then click on "Management disks "under" Storage. " Select the external drive in the list, delete the existing partition and create a new partition that was half the original size and format.
