I-tunes, i-pod and install memory drive even harder?

I have 52gb hard drive in a former office of 4 years-HP, but only 747mb of free space left. I filled the thing with the music stored on i-Tunes to feed my i-pod 80GB (about a half-filled with hundreds records awaiting loading). If I buy an external HDDrive, "all the music that I can get completely out of my C drive on this device, and when neither side of a disc of music on the computer to Add i-tunes, or taking the i-pod in synchronization, the machines can be found is stored in my music and do what they have to do without my having to manually intervene every time this happens? Or better would be advised install additional memory? Taking a computer store a small independent, Finally (big question): if the outside unit should I buy?
