Why is my external hard drive LaCie want to see my files stored on my MacBook?

Is it because all data is stored a computer with Windows XP? What can I do to solve this problem? HELP please!

It depends on how the format of external drive. It certain formats that the Mac can not read, some to share with Windows and others that are exclusively Mac and Windows can not read. Skip to Utility Disk (Applications> Utilities> Disk Utility) and see if it detects the drive. You have no options to change the format, however, clearly the dirve and lose all data on that.
