IBM Think Pad I Win2000, how can I determine my speed USB port other than the Computer / Properties?
(Okay If Please do not laugh at me) But I have an old IBM Think Pad Model – MT A30 2652 running on Windows 2000. I tried to look in the Computer / properites and looked at the USB ports in Device Manager. I read somewhere that tells me the time I have USB 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0, but it says "PCI bus 0" or "Location 0". I'm sure that probably has USB 1.0 or 1.1, but before you go and try to buy a PCMCIA Card USB / FireWire Notebook Card, I wanted to be sure. Since my laptop only 15GB hard drive, I have to buy an external with 150 GB or less. But I do not want to simply turn my existing USB ports. We also reviewed the IBM ThinkPad USB 2.0 CardBus Adapter, but gives no information other types of cards can be compatible. I wanted to buy an adapter CardBus USB 2.0/FireWire like the "Adaptec PCMCIA Laptop Card Model # AUA-1422, all these cards are compatible with all laptops? Sorry for the long post im lost!
you can see in the manager devices. USB-Controller expand and if there is a USB 2.0 Root Hub entry, so you have USB 2.0. on a PCMCIA adapter / USB 2.0 – If you not need a FireWire connection better go for a 2-port USB 2.0 card like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Brand=8281&N = 50008281 & Submit = ENE & Manufactory = 8281 & Description = pcmcia + usb +2% 2E0 = NTK and all, to note that it is more likely that the map does not with a wireless PCMCIA card. edit: and forget the previous response, you can not upgrade USB 1.0 or 1.1 to 2.0 with any other driver.
