PC compatible with MAC problems ….?

Ok now I have a PC with Windows XP with a Western Digital 500GB external hard drive. The hard drive that I many files with movies and television that I have on my computer I also have a huge folder with about 30GB of mp3 bulk folder. Whenever trying to use iTunes to import all of them, simply can not handle and that issues. So I use MediaMonkey, works well. This brings me to my two questions. 1. How can I transfer data from the outside / PC to my new Macbook, I purchased? 2. Once all the music is transferred in a manner that has fallen into a file size of iTunes on the Mac will be able to pick up everything and take care everything (like iTunes on my Windows XP does not read all the files in the folder) Thanks in advance to anyone who can help is greatly appreciated.
