No more products found for: external hard drive cases sata SATA vs IDE External Hard Drive?
Curently I sold some old computer parts on eBay. I got over $80. I wanted to replace my old external drive. I could do one of two things, buy an 320GB IDE hard drive and just change it with my current 80GB IDE hard drive in my external hard drive case, or I could buy a 250GB SATA drive and an External SATA case. Either way it will cost about the same.
Would the SATA be faster? Would it be worth it to have another fully functioning external hard drive around? What do you think? I have a laptop so eSATA is out of the question.
I should have asked if I would see a difference between IDE and SATA while using USB 2.0.
Get an external case that supports eSATA. It’s going to give you sub faster speeds than Firewire or USB 2.0.
You case needs an external eSATA connection for this to work. My distr sells them for about 10USD so this won’t break the bank. Your MB may already support this feature.

less than 20USD. Never bought from them b4 so look to your favorite retailer for one you like. It’s worth the 20USD.
