How do I get my hard drive files from XP to Vista on my computer.
My old computer died on me, but the hard disk was beautiful. I bought a new computer with Vista and an external enclosure. I tried to move files from the old disk but access is denied, even when I tried to take administrative control of documents. There should be an easy way to do it. Hopefully someone a little more versed in security issues in Vista and I can help you.
Sorry, I'm not with Vista but some general advice on cheating machine to make the process in reverse: to enter the BIOS settings when starting the machine (if the screen Black does not tell you, try to keep F1 or Ctrl + S or Esc) in the Bios (blue and black screen) go to start, follow the instructions to select the former XP disk to boot from the ESC to get to the screen you want to save time (must) continue to boot from the old disc. Then you might be able to copy the entire disk of Vista that XP is much less demanding on the share. Oh I forgot, when you start to press the F5 key to start the mode of insurance (if not found 200 items of computer equipment in the new machine does not have drivers for) (and do not have the drivers refuse to use the Can Tho and the use and safety without driver, imagine!) pretty sure that F5, unless u cld try f8 or SHIFT, sorry, but you must start over if you get me (If it starts to enter in normal mode, which should have an impact on a change of direction at the exit)
