No more products found for: external drive ntfs or fat32 What should i format my External drive to (NTFS, FAT32, etc…) if i want the fastest file transfer, PC?
I just want it to be as fast as it can be – and i don’t know what the original format type was. I want to use it for PC (if there is a format type that allows fast file transfers equally between PC and Mac then i would like to do that) – but if there’s a format type that will allow the fastest file transfers between PC and HD but only on PC – than i’ll do that format – This type i’m talking about is like NTFS or FAT32 Etc… its at NTFS – 3G right now. Not sure if it’s necesarily going as fast as it could. It’s a USB HD – FreeAgent 1.5TB – I might just get a new one (even though this is only a year old).
Right now it’s at about 3-4MB per second… est. from what i can see.
I don’t know what to do or if i even know what i’m talking about… but it does seem to go tranfer slower than before i formatted it to NTFS-3G – which is why i ask.
Thanks Yall
The drive format will not make that much of a difference. You need to change the interface to USB3 or eSata for it to work any faster. It is the IO from the computer to the device that is the bottleneck.
