Will replacing the disk drive on my European xbox make it work with US games?

I bought the xbox used, and it only works once in a while will replacing disk drive make it work better?

Answer to your first question,no sorry. It is impossible to chane the dvd drive over & automatically play games from another region code. The dvd drive has a “key”(small circuit board) which is coded to each region. This key can be reprogrammed to change region coding but,is a hassle to do. If you wish to play NTSC(US) games you will either have to do this or buy a NTSC(US) console. Some games from different regions are called region free,which means no matter what xbox console you have the game will work. As to your second question,will it work any better,well that depends on what fault you have. If the console keeps coming up disc error,unreadable disc or just wont read the disc then you have a dvd drive issue. If other things occur such as console freezing on you,you have other issues that have nothing to do with the dvd drive. If you require any help or further info i would be happy to help.
